Where It All Began...

Where It All Began…
I started building model houses when I was in my teens, from using cardboard to wood, I always enjoyed the craft of building model houses. I would start by hand drafting out a floor plan, and then begin making the walls out of “beer branded” cardboard, and regular tape. I then took thicker cardboard and kinda used it as "insulation" or in this case sturdiness. This way the walls would be easier to connect and make them stand on their own.

Although…
I never really got too far with this process, seeing as it took forever to do and most of the times just fell apart after a day or two, and yes I know, I'm admitting I failed... But, With this failure came a new door for me to open...
When I was in high school, we had an "end of the year" project to do for an architecture class I took. Basically the guy bought everyone a model house kit, and said "Here build this so I can sit on my ass for a week…", anyways.... I was the only one that really took to it, how do I know this?
Well just for the fact that it took me a lot longer than everyone else to finish. It wasn't because I was bored of it, I think it had more to do with the fact that I didn't want it to end. This being said, I ended up passing the class, and didn’t go on to pursue a degree in architecture/ design like I had dreamed of doing, instead I ended up in retail for a good bit. This gave me time to perfect my own crafts and also cause my own form of anxiety in my life!
Within this time of working retail I found the rabbit hole of streaming and maybe having a chance of having someone tell me what I was building was cool and that they would want to learn more… Everyone thought I was nuts, maybe I was… But I really enjoyed what I was doing, it allowed and still allows me to zone out of my life problems and just build for a bit, and that is basically what “ScaledCrafts” is all about, helping someone just escape their problems and instead of finding trouble, they can find a brand new hobby!
Let's jump forward a little bit here…

7 YEARS LATER….
No really… 7 years later…
This is when I really started to make this thing a reality, I had done my time as a new streamer and built a house live on stream, I will talk about that in the next post so stay tuned. At this time though I was ready to see if I could really help others find a craft they would enjoy and I started looking around at all the hobby sites and groups, from facebook, to discord, you name it. All it was, was a lot of spewing of random information people found on the back of a box and said “ yeah I'll do it this way”… then going to a group and basically saying “look what I did ma”. I decided to take a shot at this and dove into Etsy and all those other marketplace sites, finally I said just screw it and formed ScaledCrafts as a website, I already streamed it so why not give it its own home!
I know this is a bit of a cliffhanger, but I would love to know if anyone has any questions, please comment them down below, I do read all of them!
